Sparkles in My Shoe

I hate wearing shoes, especially when I'm inside. So it's only reasonable to conclude that as soon as I sit down in the pew at church, my shoes come off. Now, there have been a few times I forgot to put my shoes back on before walking down to communion. And yes, I kneeled at the alter, barefoot and happily eating my mother's sourdough bread. It's not that I think shoes are unimportant, I just don't see reason to wear them all the time.

A few Sundays ago, I walked down the pew, found the seat I always sit in (right between my brother and grandmother), sit down and took off my shoes. Throughout the service I occasionally rearranged my shoes. I'll admit, I wasn't paying attention to the announcements nor did I really watch the choir while they sang the preparation song. Like a raccoon, I was distracted by the shiny glimmer in my shoe.

There's a saying that sorority girl's have glitter instead of blood. This could possibly be true as no matter where we are or what we are doing, glitter is involved. And it gets everywhere. We put it on signs, on clothes, on ourselves, our shoes, bows and ponytails. Spray glitter is probably the best invention. Ever.

So when I saw a tiny sparkle of glitter in my shoe I got to thinking
Glitter is always with sorority girls. Even when I haven't been around my sisters since May, they're still as close that piece of glitter in my shoe.

We're told to think of God as this huge person, someone who can hold the world in His hands and see everything happening, even atoms moving. But what if I told you that God could very well be as small as that sparkle in my shoe?

There isn't any possible way to put God in a box and keep Him in your pocket and use Him only when you need Him. Just like you can't put glitter on a craft without some of it not sticking to the glue or going back in the jar.

So let Your God shine like glitter. Throw sparkles in the air when you speak of Him (actually just throw sparkles in the air all the time, it makes you feel so happy). Don't try to put God in a box or jar and expect Him to stay there until you're ready to share Him. He is everywhere and is shining bright like a sorority girls' sign on Bid Day.
