One Step Further

Driving home for me is a rare occasion as  never go home except on breaks. When I first began driving home by myself freshman year, I would go a different way than my dad told me. I didn't know this was different because I was still hitting all the points (Union City, Dyersburg, Covington, home). When I told my dad about this difference he told me to keep going further than I had been.

Sunset while driving home. I parked to take picture.

So now when I go home I have to remind myself to go further because I still want to take Reelfoot Avenue to Union City, adding about 10 minutes and many red lights to my route. But I keep going further and take Highway 22, bypassing all the stops. When I get to Dyersburg I have to fight the urge to turn before Exit 13 but I keep going and see Cracker Barrel on the horizon.

I have an application on my phone that I do devotional from every morning. The devotional usually gives a verse or two that go along with the devotional for that day. But for some reason I find myself hitting 'Read Entire Chapter' option and reading the verses before and after and way after the one suggested for the devotional.
The app I use on my phone.

I encourage you to do the same. Next time you're reading your Bible for a devotional or sermon, go a little further. Sometimes the verses you were led to are really stepping stones to the verse you were really meant to read.
