Welcome (Back) to Uganda

Sorry for not posting sooner. Jetlag has not been a very good friend. The other two interns, Sam and Haley, and I have made it to Uganda safely. We arrived last Thursday very, very late at night; finally reaching The James Place around 2:00 in the morning.

Friday was a chill day where we got to sleep in (but we were still up before 9:00 am) and got to sit in on the Women's Bible Study.

Saturday we had the morning off to prepare for Kids Club. At 2:00 pm about 240 kids took over The James Place. It was so much fun and a perfect way to fight off the sleepiness from jetlag. I got to experience hearing the story of Cain and Able in both English and Lugandan. I also got to experience unwrapping about 50 or 60 DumDum suckers, or "sweeties", for the kids when they left. We had dinner at Surjio's which is the guesthouse the team stayed last summer. After dinner at Surjio's we returned to The James Place to play many epic rounds of a game called Mafia with a group of visitors. It was so much fun and the best part was Sandra was there too. Sandra was one of the people I met last year. She was a volunteer with Amani Baby Cottage and I helped her paint one of the rooms at new Amani site (which is not the current Amani site).

Today, Sunday, we went to church at Acacia Community Church. the service was good, the sermon was good, the singing was Amazing!! Once the service was over, we came back to The James Place. Sam, Haley and I went to town so Sam and Haley could  get adaptors. It was so cool to be walking the streets of Jinja. We stopped at a restaurant called Flavors to get something cool to drink. Tonight is volleyball and Tina is making a crockpot soup.

Sorry for not going too much into detail. I just wanted to get a quick post out about how things have been lately.

Now, I know why most of you are reading this; for the pictures. I haven't taken many but here are a few from when Haley and I were hanging out with the staff kids and three sisters who hang out here.

All these pictures were taken at The James Place, the Uganda location of H.E.A.L. Ministries.
