When Life Knocks You to Your Knees...Refill Your Cup.

I have been so humbled by the generosity God has provided through amazing people who bless me with donations and support, it has knocked me to my knees in praise. Every night I pray thanks to God for all the people He has placed in my life.

But my knees don't have bruises just from hitting the ground in praise. Most of the bruises are from when life knocked me to my knees.  You know this feeling too don't you? Those moments when:
Someone pulls the rug out from under your feet.
Gravity just does not cooperate.
You receive news that takes your breath away.
The weight of the world suddenly hits your shoulders.
All of the errands to run, bills to pay and people to please bear down.
Life hands you rotten lemons and you're out of sugar.
It seems like there's not enough time in the day and not enough you to go around.

Being a student in college, a member of a sorority and other organizations, an officer in a campus organization, a people pleaser and many others, I sometimes empty my cup faster than I can refill it. A wise person once told me the story of "The Giving Cup".

We all have a Giving Cup. It's the sippy cup, coffee mug, Mason jar, water bottle or any other liquid holding container that you use to fill other people's Giving Cup. When you run out of water in your own cup, you can always refill it. Whether other people refill it, a relaxing bubble bath refills it or a nice cup of hot tea, your cup gets refilled and you are ready to fill others' cups again. But when you don't properly balance out your giving and receiving your cup can run dry. When your cup runs dry it's like filling a cracked clay pot with water, carrying it five miles and trying to pour water in someone elses' clay pot. You just can't. The only way to receive water that will NEVER run out is to fill your Giving Cup with God's Living Water.

The only way to receive some of His Living (when I first typed that word I typed "Loving") Water you first have to apply for an interview. If you make it past the interview, you are to fill out another application. After you submit the second application you must run a 5K backwards, donate your next paycheck to your church, fast from food for two days and serve three meals at a soup kitchen before the two-day fast is over. During this entire time you must also spend at least two hours everyday praying, reading your Bible and meditating. Also, you cannot eat or drink anything that is impure. It's a good thing Hostess is going out of business because you cannot eat that Twinkie you've been craving.

Sounds like a complicated process doesn't it? Well, actually, that's not how you receive God's Living Water to refill your cup. All you have to do is simply
ASK.

"Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”"
John 4:13-14
