Going with the Flow

Lately, I have been asked a lot of questions regarding my status as a college student and my future plans.

Are you on a break from school? When are you going back?
I’m not going back to school, I am actually done with school. I finished a 6-week internship at the beginning of the semester and now I am just waiting to graduate on May 7th.

Do you have a job?
No, I don’t have a job. But I have a possible internship lined up for the summer and I will take my board exam in July. After my board exam I will search for a job in the veterinary technician field.

Are you going to vet school?
No, I am not going to vet school. If I pass my board exam in July I will be a licensed veterinary technician and will join the workforce without increasing my student debt even more by going to vet school.

Where do you want your job to be?
I don’t know. I want to work somewhere rural but live somewhere urban. I want to be able to walk everywhere (grocery store, restaurants, parks) but drive to my job outside of the urban area. I know that is a complicated request but I’m sure it’s out there somewhere.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I don’t know where I’m going to be 5 days from now, let alone 5 years. I do know that I don’t see myself staying anywhere for longer than 2 years.

Currently, I am at home keeping an eye on my grandma and doing chores around the house. I’ve gotten real good at doing laundry, washing dishes and rounding up the tumbleweeds of dog hair. If I get the internship for this summer I will be working Monday-Friday until August with a 2 week family vacation at the end of May/beginning of June.

I’m not too worried about the future, I’m just learning how to go with the flow.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
