Finding Just the Right Pin

This year for sorority recruitment all sorority members are instructed to keep off social media. This umbrella covers Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine and other media sites. One media site that was not restricted was Pinterest. I do not have a Pinterest but my mom does as well as many of my sisters and friends.

"Pinterest is a tool for collecting and organizing the things that inspire you." (www.pinterest.com)

Some people have one to twenty-five boards while others have one hundred and twenty-five boards. DIY Crafts, humorous pictures and quotes, beautiful landscapes, creative ways to use otherwise useless things and pictures of cute puppies that will make anyone smile are only a few of the things found on the boards of Pinterest.

Cute Puppies Can Always Be Found on Pinterest
For some college classes, students are allowed to have their laptops out to take notes or look up more information about a subject. But some students use this opportunity to get on social media sites. Pinterest is a common site to visit while the professor is going on and on about a subject that is not as interesting as pinning ideas and pictures to boards.

Ideas for Anything Can Be Found!
When thinking of ideas for door decorations for the newest members' doors, my mom suggested checking Pinterest. This got me thinking. It's easy to just go to a website, type in a few search words and Bam! ideas and how-to's and pictures right there!

Imagine if it was that easy to get information on how to live your life or obey God's Will for you. Well it is! The Bible has been an instruction manual for thousands of years. Nowadays, it's sometimes easier to just ask a friend for advice or try to figure it out yourself. Just like it's easier to just look up someone else's idea instead of thinking of an original creation.

The first Friday I was in Uganda, Haley and I helped with H.E.A.L.'s Women's Bible Study. Haley and I were just getting over jetlag so we were told to just sit and watch and just experience. When the woman split into their small groups I didn't know what to do. I sat in the chair journaling to pass the time. But when I finished journaling I didn't know what else to do. I was super nervous and a little homesick. If I was in America I could easily just text my mom or a friend but I was not in America. I had my Bible and journal. I thought, "I just need comfort." For some reason, I had a bookmark in my Bible at 2 Corinthians 1. I began to read and immediately felt better as I read "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) The rest of the day I felt comforted in knowing that God was there with me.

It's amazing how at just the right time, the right verse was there to help. Just like how the right idea is there to help when your creative juices need a little boost.
